Inertia of motion
Definition:
Inertia of motion is the tendency of a moving body to continue moving in the same direction with the same speed unless acted upon by an external force.
Explanation:
When an object is already in motion, it resists any change in its speed or direction. It will keep moving uniformly unless a force (like friction or braking) acts on it.
Examples:
- When a moving bus suddenly stops, passengers fall forward because their bodies continue moving.
- A rolling ball keeps rolling until friction or an obstacle stops it.
